Why is it that I walked into our Winnfield, Louisiana post office on February 9, 2012, picked up a flat rate medium box (if it fits, it ships for one price). Ask clerk what the charges to mail this box, she told me $5.35, even ask someone else in the post office and they verified the price. Sent my son on February 10 to mail. I was charge $11.35. Not real happy with the postal service because of their customer service, UPS seem to know what they are doing!

The small flat rate boxes are 5.35, medium flat rate boxes are 11.35 and the large flat rate boxes are 15.45. There could have been alot of reasons why they quoted you the wrong price. Still doesn't make it right though. A big difference between the post office and UPS is the price... There is no way that you are going to be able to send the same thing for the price that it cost to send to with the postal service. UPS and FEDEX prices are really high compared to the post office prices, plus they don't offer a flat rate box.
