Why do everyone compare tablets with ereaders altho they're different devices for different purposes?

    I think the primary reasons for this are that they have a very similar form factor and tablets can easily be used as e-readers. I have a tablet, and I use the Amazon Kindle app on it, and have found it to work quite well for me, so I have no need to buy a separate device. Some people may find that they cannot live without the e-ink screen, and they will continue to buy dedicated devices, but many -- perhaps most -= consumers will decide that a tablet does the job just fine, so they don't need both.

    I think the introduction of the Kindle Fire proves the point - Amazon realizes that many consumers would rather have one device instead of two, so they're trying to fill that demand rather than getting stuck in the dedicated e-reader niche which has limited growth potential.
